Regional Core Innovation Project

Regional Innovation Strategy Promotion Region.The Ministry of Education, Ministry of Economy, as well as the Ministry of Agriculture, in 2011, with the purpose of creating regional innovation, selected regions holding proactive excellent plans as “The Regional Innovation Strategy Promotion Region.” With the purpose of long term creation of new regional innovation, the Innovation Strategy Promotion Conference was established, and settled on innovation plans are proactively implemented as projects. According to the potential of each region, they are divided into “International Competitiveness Region” and “Research Function/Advanced Industrial Accumulation Region.” At the base of Mt. Fuji, the Pharma Valley Plan Promotion Region is an “International Competitiveness Region.”

Regional Innovation Strategy Support Program

Within the regions selected as Regional Innovation Strategy Promotion Regions, the Ministry of Education supports recognized regions that contribute greatly to the realization of Innovation Strategy. Specifically, support for the formation of intellectual property and cultivation of human resources (Software and humans), regional initiative and development of independent activity. They are configured from the menu of four options below. At the base of Mt. Fuji, the Pharma Valley Strategy Promotion region has been selected as number 3—“The formation of an intellectual network of universities and the like.”
